What we found after more than 135 years of beautiful skin research
For more than 135 years since its founding, Momotani Juntenkan has pursued beauty and health as a cosmetic company. The impetus for providing “food,” rather than cosmetics, came from the following question: What is the secret to women having beautiful skin despite their advancing age? To answer this question, we have conducted research for many years. As a result, it was found that women with beautiful skin had specific bacterial flora—so-called “Beautiful Skin Bacteria”—in the intestine.
Based on the research findings, we have successfully developed “Floracontroller ISR,” a unique ingredient that allows Beautiful Skin Bacteria to grow. And now we, as a cosmetic company, have created a new type of coffee that contains Floracontroller ISR.

In developing cosmetics, primary importance is placed on a good of balance of skin moisturization and permeability as well as a smooth and comfortable feeling after application. The same goes for coffee. To present the unique quality and worldview of individual types of coffee, special consideration is given to aroma, flavor, taste, bitterness and aftertaste.

To create a new type of coffee based on an innovative idea, a unique collaboration has been realized between a coffee artisan who studied coffee making in Italy, the home of real coffee, and became an internationally certified barista and a cosmetics artisan who has pursued beauty and health for more than 135 years. Consequently, “M’s Beauty Coffee” was created with the desire to, in a situation where it is necessary to spend more time at home, help people improve themselves from inside to become more beautiful and healthier while enjoying a relaxing time.

Specially selected blends of coffee

This time, we offer three kinds of coffee blends: light roast, deep roast, and premium roast. These types of coffee, blended in a way that makes full use of the characteristics of the beans used and their producing regions, are designed to taste good even when they are drunk black or cold.
Deep roast blend

The difference between “light roast” and “deep roast”
Light roast beans have a light brown color because they are not roasted long. They make less bitter coffee. This type of roast is more suitable for those who do not prefer to drink coffee black. This coffee, which is low in acidity, tastes good even after it gets cold. Light roast coffee, which has more caffeine and other ingredients than deep roast coffee, is expected to allow for better healthy balance of the body and greater concentration.

Deep roast beans, which are roasted longer than light roast beans, have a shiny dark brown or black color with an oily surface. They feature low acidity and rich flavor. This type of coffee is recommended for those who are especially fond of coffee. This deep roast coffee boasts a rich and bitter taste. However, this is also suitable for those who do not like ordinary dark roast coffee because of its slightly reduced bitterness and high-quality and rich flavor. With its small amount of caffeine, our deep roast coffee is also perfect to drink at night.

To deliver coffee of high quality comparable to a coffee specialty shop, the whole process—from the selection of beans to roasting and packaging—is carefully conducted by a barista specializing in M’s Beauty Coffee, which is completely free from preservatives and other artificial substances. Slowly pour hot water over ground beans in a drip bag, and you will see coffee gradually blooming, which is evidence of fresh coffee beans. We are rigidly committed to no additives so that the flavor of coffee beans can be fully enjoyed.

Mr. Setoya went to Italy, the home of real coffee, to study coffee making and was internationally certified as a barista. He also became a JCQA Certified Chief Coffee Instructor and acquired the Japan Barista Association’s Barista License Level 2. "Since I did not like the acidity unique to coffee, I conducted my own research on the selection of beans and the method to make coffee with less acidity. I’d like those who do not like to drink coffee black to try Bistro M’s Coffee. I hope this will be the first step for them to enjoy black coffee," says Mr. Setoya. (JCQA is the abbreviation for the Japan Coffee Qualification Authority.)

Nova—Coffee and baked confectionery

Barista Setoya opened a shop for selected coffee and baked confectionery on January 31, 2021. In order to serve coffee in top condition, he uses cups and saucers and coffee equipment which were all custom-made in consideration of thermal conduction.
