Every year in October, people from more than 90 embassies and international organizations in the world meet in Beijing to attend the charity event. In 2020, however, the charity award ceremony was held on December 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his wife Qian Wei and more than 130 people representing embassies in China and international organizations participated in the event both online and offline. There were only a few participants from private companies, with just two from Japan.
Contributions raised at this charity event will go to children in Jinping County and Malipo County, Yunnan Province, through the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation. The contributions will be used to improve the educational environment to ensure children’s healthy growth.
