Research on Product Evaluation Methods

To ensure individual products’ functions and effects/efficacy on the skin, we have conducted research and demonstration tests based on scientific grounds, using various types of measuring instruments and methods. As part of efforts to pursue the development of highly effective products to ensure customer satisfaction, we have been conducting research concerning various methods to clearly convey the appeal of cosmetic products to customers.

Development of new evaluation methods

We provide EBCs (Evidence-Based Cosmetics) to customers by measuring and verifying beauty products’ functions and effects/efficacy on the skin.
Recognizing the importance of communicating how effective a beauty product is when it is applied to the skin to customers in an easy-to-understand way, we have been working on the development of technology required to achieve this.
For example, the photos on the right show models of uneven skin surface with a pore, made of dental silicone impression material, which have been used for tests for the evaluation of cleansing products’ effects in removing keratotic plugs from skin pores. A cross-sectional view of the artificial skin model enables us to evaluate a cleansing product’s effect of removing keratotic plugs from skin pores in a very real manner.

Test for the evaluation of cleansing products’ effects of removing keratotic plugs from skin pores
Photo (a) shows skin on which foundation and a keratotic plug remain. Photo (b) depicts skin from which dirt, as mentioned in (a), has been clearly removed by the effect of a cleansing product.

To clearly and accurately communicate the value of the beauty products we create to our customers, we will promote the development of technology by flexibly using various tools, from those found in the surroundings to highly specialized equipment.
